Feeling the thoughts

The Eerie-ness of dead FB’ers

Facebook has become a tool to talk to friends, spy on ex’s or potential love interests, a place for bosses to spy on their potential or current employees and a place where everyone can find out what everyone else is doing.

Facebook as has become a place where people are immortalised after their passing – something I have started to find rather eerie.

When someone dies, they cease to exist and the memory of their existance stays in the memories of those who loved them but now with facebook, they continue to live.

The sister of a friend (Katie Noel May)  and the best friend of a another friend (Jake O’Brien) passed away this year and while reading my newsfeed, their profiles show up sometimes with comments being written on their pages and naturally I expect that they will reply to the comments but they never will.

I click on the newsfeed reading the latest comments and realise on each of their pages, a new picture has been added or they have been tagged in a new picture and goose bump appear and I get shivers up and down my spine because it feels as if they are still there, as if I could still say hello but they are not, making it a little bit eerie…

What do you think?
